Founded in 2012, Dukasa Dispensary was created at a time of change within the pharmacy landscape. As Australian retail pharmacy increasingly moved toward discount-led models that precipitated poor service, Dukasa was established to return focus to what matters most - patient-centric care, high-quality pharmacy services, product innovation, and meaningful access to medicines that are not always easy to obtain.

To-date, our team has proudly served over 150,000 patients, supported over 4,000 prescribers, and dispensed in excess of 1.4 million scripts.

After gaining extensive experience across compounding pharmacies throughout Victoria, Aspa opened Dukasa Compounding at just 22 years old on High Street in Armadale, Melbourne. What began as an exclusive compounding pharmacy grew steadily over fourteen years, earning the trust of patients, prescribers, and clinics alike.

In 2024, Dukasa relocated to larger, purpose-built premises and evolved into Dukasa Dispensary - a space designed to reflect the scale, precision, and care that had long defined its work

A Generational Legacy

Shaped by a family history rooted in medicinal care and resourcefulness, Aspa’s inspiration is found in her grandmother, Aspasia, whose life unfolded in a small Grecian village without access to a local doctor or pharmacy. Drawing on locally grown herbs, she created natural remedies for her community. Over time, she became known as the village Apothecarian – the Greek word for pharmacist.

The same mortar and pestle Aspasia used in the 1950s has been passed down through generations; a quiet symbol of enduring belief in personalised and natural medicine.

The Apothecary, Reimagined

That familial legacy continues at Dukasa Dispensary today.

More than a decade on, Dukasa has grown into one of Australia’s leading compounding pharmacies and specialised dispensaries, supported by a team of over 40, and more than a million prescriptions dispensed nationwide.

Here, science, care, family, and tradition are inseparable. Together, they carry the apothecary spirit forward for a new generation of patients.
