Founded in 2012 by pharmacist Aspa Dukas, Dukasa Dispensary was built on a passion for personalised care and professional service. After graduating, Aspa noticed a growing shift in retail pharmacy, from patient-focused care to retail sales. Wanting to change that direction, she set out to create something different: a pharmacy dedicated to professional services, high-quality compounding, and improving access to otherwise difficult-to-source medicines.

Meet Aspa Dukas

After gaining extensive experience in compounding pharmacies across Victoria, Aspa opened Dukasa Compounding at just 22 years old on High Street in Armadale, Melbourne. Dukasa operated in Armadale for 12 years before relocating to larger premises in 2024 and rebranding its name to Dukasa Dispensary.

Aspa’s inspiration began generations earlier with her grandmother, Aspasia, who lived in a small village in Greece without a local doctor or pharmacy. Using locally grown herbs, Aspasia created her own natural remedies for the community, becoming known as the village “apothecarian” — the Greek word for pharmacist. Her handmade potions and lotions were carefully tailored to each person’s needs.

The same mortar and pestle she used in the 1950s has been passed down to Aspa, symbolising the family’s enduring commitment to personalised medicine.

Today, that legacy lives on at Dukasa Dispensary. Our team handcrafts customised medicines in a state-of-the-art compounding laboratory, creating treatments that are not commercially available as finished products.

More than a decade on, Dukasa has grown to become one of Australia’s largest compounding pharmacies and specialised dispensaries, with over 40 team members and more than 1.2 million prescriptions dispensed.

At Dukasa, we’re proud to blend science, care, family and tradition, continuing the apothecary spirit for a new generation of patients.
